Max Cairnduff is the Director of the Civil Service-award winning Complex Transactions Team that supports departments with their most challenging commercial transactions.
Max joined Complex Transactions in 2018 as a Commercial Specialist, having previously worked as an infrastructure lawyer. He quickly progressed to Senior Management in July 2019, and assumed the role of Director in August 2020.
Max has worked extensively with Defra, IPA, MoD, MoJ and a wide range of private sector developers, investors and debt providers. Max’s key experience has been around commercial strategy and negotiation, as well as contract rescue and renegotiation. He helped structure the £4.2bn Thames Tideway Tunnel project and has led on structuring a range of low carbon financings. Max also worked with PwC in relation to Carillion’s failure and with MoJ in relation to the failure of its outsourced probation services supplier Working Links.
As Director, Max continued CTT’s support to DHSC’s critical COVID-19 procurements and is working to expand the team, so that it can reach a wider range of clients; both in departments and in other public bodies.
