Terry Rich

Non-Executive Chair - Public Service Transformation Academy

Terry has worked in and around the public sector for some 50 years, mostly within local government but also in the NHS and voluntary sector organisations. For the last 12 years he has run his own consultancy providing advice and support across the sector on performance, achieving financial sustainability and delivering service transformation.

He had a long and successful career in local government serving as Director of social care and housing in three authorities.  He led improvement programmes in each, turning around failing services with poor regulatory ratings.

Terry also worked with the Local Government Association as a Care & Health Improvement advisor across a number of regions and with the Association of Directors of Adult Social Services supporting their learning disability and autism policy network.

In addition, Terry has worked with the NHS Leadership Academy for a number of years leading sessions on partnership working and politics for top managers and clinicians in the NHS.  He was Local Government Advisor to the Institute of Health Visitors and worked with NHS London on the transfer of public health functions from the NHS to local government.

Terry is also independent chair of an adults safeguarding board and non-executive chair of a large not for profit Learning Disability provider organisation.

Terry now lives in rural Suffolk with his wife and dogs, where they raise rare breed sheep and chairs his local parish council.
